After gaining a BA(Hons) degree in 3-Dimensional Design specialising in Silversmithing & Jewellery and winning an Anglo-Danish travel scholarship I set-up in business as a Designer Maker in Cornwall. After 12 years being my own boss and with numerous prestigious exhibitions to my name I decided to take a years' sabbatical and further my knowledge on the use of new technology and management techniques. After successfully completing an MSc in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) at Cranfield I went on to read for a PhD in Cost Justification of CIM in SMEs (Small & Medium-sized Enterprises).
Armed with these qualifications I decided to pursue a career in Academia and started work in research first at the Dept of Accounting & Management Science at Portsmouth Uni and later at the National Centre for Product Design & Development Research at Cardiff Met.
However, in 2010 my mother's health deteriorated and I left to look after her 24/7. I now intend to start a Bookkeeping business from home once I have the qualifications.
