Are there any instructions for using the CPD Portal?

I passed two Level 4 exams this year which despite the syllabus stating "On successful completion of this qualification, those holding current ICB membership will automatically be credited with 15 structured and 15 unstructured points on their CPD record." this has not happened. When I questioned this I was told I'd have to add them myself.

I have got so far as setting up Goals but can't see how I get them into the summary box.

Thanks for the reply Alex but unfortunately it doesn't answer my question.

 Hello Bobby,

To log your CPD points: click on the 'Add New Activity' button in the CPD portal and enter all the necessary details. There will be a section on this page to select and assign one of the goals you'd already created. Click 'save activity', then upload any supporting documents and click 'save' again

Thanks BlueGreen, that has achieved what I was attempting to do.

Still doesn't answer why they weren't added automatically as the syllabus states.

Edit: I've deleted my original comment since it turned out to be incorrect information,

Hello Bobby

Further to my reply moments ago, here's the link to the ICB TV 100th episode recording, from 4th Dec 2020, in which Garry talked about the organanisation's plans to stop automatically assigning CPD points to the CPD portal from 2021. He started talking about the topic from 20:55 into the recording.

The topic came up after Ami mentioned (at 20:21) that someone had posed a question (via the chat online meeting chat feature) asking when ICB would automatically add the CPD points for the 2020 Bookkeepers Summit attendance.

I just today noticed that CPD points for branch meetings attendances are still currently being automatically added to the CPD log. However, one will have to edit the CPD activity to state whether it was beneficial, detail what was gained from it, and assign to a goal (if any).

Hello, sorry for the miscommunication here. Activities booked through the main ICB website including Branch Meetings, and Exams should have CPD points automatically allocated to your CPD record. This means you won't have to add the activity but you can manually go in to assign to goals, etc. This does require human intervention on our part, however, as we have to check attendance records and results, etc. so the effect is not always instant.

@Bobbym61 this means you should indeed have received your CPD points automatically when you passed the exams. I shall investigate this for you.

CPD for the Bookkeepers Summit is different and wasn't automatically allocated. Seeing as there were two days of content, with several streams taking place at once, we took the decision that we could not automatically allocate CPD points. We ask you, therefore, to add your own CPD activities and points for those sessions you attended. We recommend one structured point for each hour of presentations and one unstructured point for every hour of networking and socialising.

I understand it's a bit unclear considering the discussion on ICBTV about revisions to how we auto-allocate CPD points, however, I would like you to see this as a future intention that has not yet been confirmed or implemented.

Hope that helps, Ami

Thanks for the clarification on the matter Amy. It is now clear that I'd misunderstood Garry's comment in thinking it applied to all CPD activity booked via ICB rather than just solely the Summit.

My apologies to the ICB and to Bobby for giving out incorrect information.

Hi Both, thanks for your responses.

@Ami thanks for clearing the issue up. No need to investigate on my behalf, I've done it myself now. Although it might be as well to check it was a one off thing rather than a system/process issue that others may have experienced.

@BlueGreen no need to apologise. You taught me how to get my CPD into the summary box, so that's a result.

Take care both

Thank you Ami for the clarification. Could you please confirm that booking for 'Mike on Monday' is included in such activities as that would be part of my AML training.
