Hello, was wondering if someone could let me know to access a second client on Xero Software.   I have 1 client using Xero at the moment I do this work at home.  I have a second client (who I usually go out to visit) using Xero and they now want me to work remotely.  How do I gain access to second clients data?  Can anyone help please???

Hi,

As long as I know, your client need to give you access through his setting as the client would be paying subscriptions. He need to grant an access to you by invitation with your email ID. Once you receive an email you need to verify your email, accept it and crate a password and you would be able to get access to his/her accounting data.

I haven't started my practice but at my work place we did the same to give access.

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,

Mehul

Thanks for this Mehul... so am I right in thinking that I can use the same email address for each client but a different password to log into Xero??  Thanks Elaine

Yes. at my work place I am using both Xero and sage cloud based application. You need to ask your clients to invite you to gain access.

Being a QuickBooks person I am not an expert on Xero but I think they have similar arrangements.

First option as mentioned is to ask your client to invite you to be a ‘User’ with your own sign on and password. A former client of mine gave me access that way.

A better option might be to become a ‘Xero Partner’. If it’s anything like QuickBooks you are given yopur own free ‘Accountants’ version of Xero which when you client sends you an ‘Invite your accountant’ invitation their Xero will be listed in the Clients section of your Xero giving you full access.

Further advantages are free training and accreditation and again if it works like QuickBooks your clients Xero subscription can be billed to you at a discount which you choose or not to pass on!!

I am in the process of setting up this arrangement with Xero and here is my contact:

Good luck!

Hi Elaine

You just need to ask your client to add you as a user. When you log in to Xero (if using the same email as the one you already use) you'll just be able to switch between companies by using the drop down  menu on the top left of the screen.

It would be a good idea to speak with Xero to get a partner account too as you'll be able to get discounts in the future for new clients.

Hi Elaine

I agree with Vik's comments.

I would suggest that when adking clients to add you as a user I would recommend asking to be set as an advisor. This will allow you to deal with all areas that a bookkeeper needs to deal with (such as journals, recoding entries etc.)
