Hi guys, can someone pls help!
I have a client who has a construction company and they hav a project which has to be completed in 9 months and would like me to look after their day to day running of the business, book keeping and payroll. They'll hav a temporary office set up at the construction site for me to pop in twice or three times a week to put all paper work in order and to make sure all purchases are logged in. As this is a contruction business their accounts are slightly different to usual businesses therefore will i need to purchase a software for purchase-ledger accounts or can i set it up on excel?
Any suggestions or advice will be grateful.
Thank you!

Firstly, the disclaimer.  You are showing as a student without a practice license.  If this is the case then you can't take on clients so don't go any further.

If this is a mistake and you are allowed to practice then, no, you don't need special software but it can help.  excel is fine, but you need to weigh up the time it will take to create a spreadsheet or spreadsheets to the cost of some software like VT Transaction+.  You may find that the software is cheaper in the long run.

Hi Kris, i'm sorry if i mislead you. I am a fully qualified book-keeper. it was a mistake.
Thank you for your advice. I was debating between quick books and VT Transactions +. Just want something that is simple and easier to work with.

Hi Jen

What software are they using for the Payroll.   Are you doing the CIS returns for them.  If so it may be worth checking that the payroll software and accounting software can integrate together.
