Show / Society Registering

I've recently been appointed as secretary for a committee who organise small shows and other events to raise money for local causes and to fund the annual show.

They have not registered the organisation / society and I'm wondering what it should be registered as and how to go about it.

None of the committee members take money out for their own use it's all voluntary (except for expenses such as materials etc.) but no one is actually paid for their working time.

There's a bit of confusion as they raise money for local events / charitable events, and keep the rest for funding the show if the 'organisation / society' should register as a plc?

What are the best options going?

- I'd be more than grateful for any advice on this matter as it urgently needs addressing.

Thank you,

Sioned

Hi Sions

I don't know a lot about this subject - except that it sounds like a CIC (Community Interest Company) may also be of benefit in this situation. You can find out more about that here

If I were you, I'd ask the advice of an Accountant as this sort of thing, if a mistake is made, could be an expensive one for the business.

Good Luck
