end of year query?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick query - We handed over our accounts to the Accounts for our year end which was end of January this year (end of February) - I was just wondering what happens next as we haven't heard a peep out of them since, my boss says that in previous years their old bookkeeper would hand over everything to their old Accountant and they would hear/get everyhing back approx 5-6 weeks later.
This year has been slightly different in that they had previously been a Partnership but became a Ltd company with a 15 month year in November 2011 and also one of the Partners/Directors has now sold his half of the business to the remaining Partner/Director which is also being handled by the same Accountants - I was just wondering when we would hear back from them and what the next step in the process would be - as our Accountant said not to do anything with Sage with regards the End of Year procecedure, I am assuming they will pop round and do all that for me.... I do hope so, so that at least if I am expected to do it myself next year I can make notes and make sure I know what I am doing come next year Smile

Thanks in advance for any responses this little query elicits...

I guess different accountants work at different rates. I deal with 4 different accountants with 4 different clients and they all do year end stuff at different rates. One gets back to me after 5-6 weeks, another takes a year!!

With regards with what to do about the year end proceedure, they all send me openning balance adjustments and prepayment/accrual adjustments as journals, which I post at the same time as running YE on sage.

Hi Jo'Anne

I would give the Accounts a friendly phone call/email to ask when roughly can you expect the accounts to be ready. Also tell them the things you would find it useful for them to go over with you. This would also help in establishing a contact so that you can contact them if anything arises that you need advice on.
