Insulting £10.50 per hour!!!

Hi All,

This afternoon I received an email from "The Financial Management Centre" in Warwick. The email was asking for an ICB qualified bookkeeper with Sage 50 experience to work 20 hours per month at £10.50 an hour.

In my opinion the rate offered is insulting to members of the ICB and recommend that anyone else who has received this email reply telling them the rate is far too low.

Sorry that's my rant for today had to get it off my chest!!

That's £210.00 per week !!! Jobseekers Allowance is £71.00 per week.
I have bills to pay, where can I sign for this ?
Depends on the type of work, and, of course, I am certified not qualified.

Actually that is £210 per month. The attention is in the detail.

Whilst £10.50 per hour is not a lot, there would be a number of newly qualified and certified bookkeepers looking for that elusive opportunity to gain experience.

I would not work for that now, however, when I was building my practice and CV, I would have jumped at the opportunity. . . and did. I used them as much as they used me!

Is it employed or self employed? As an employed rate I'd say it's pretty fair and even if self employed, I know of bookkeepers who work for less, especially if it's for regular work.

Also, take a look at the job vacancies advertised in the Members Area ...... most of those, if they have a rate specified, are in this region.

As a new starter, I would certainly take the rate, and gain a name on my CV and the experience of actual transactional working.

Just a shame I'm not local to Warwick!

I'm a newbie and I had an enquiry from a client to do her bookkeeping for her new venture. She was taking over a sandwich bar business, so had no real figures except for the present owner, so I quoted, what I thought to be a conservative £150 per month, as I expected the work to take two days per month. And it was to be done on Sage, so the costs would have been high for one client. I offered payroll as well but had not discussed costs for this at this stage.

I've just been told that she is going with someone else, so I'm rather gutted.  How low do you have to go to get started!

So getting £10.50 per hour seems very good to me.

If anybody needs my services please let me know at agb.accountingandbookkeepingservices@outlook.com

I'm seeking clients in and around Maresfield, East Sussex.
