Hi Kelly,

Before I say anything else I will say as a member of the ICB you cannot carry out any work on your own until you hold a valid practice license and PI insurance.

You should also pass the self assessment diploma before attempting to undertake self assessment work.

When you do eventually start your own practice it can be nerve wracking to begin with.  It is a big step from the theoretical work in textbooks to actually workig with a real persons accounts.  Things will not be as clear cut.

You should start with the work you feel comfortable with, only moving on to other work when you feel more confident.  It is just a confidence thing.

Get your level 2 out of the way and get some practice under your belt before attempting a self assessment.

One thing you could do is keep them in tandem with her, for your own development of course.  That way you can build some confidence without breaking ICB rules and not being responsible for any issues.
