Staffordshire held their 2nd meeting on Monday 19 November at the Roman Way Hotel in Cannock. 12 people attended and were subjected to a presentation on Accounting Software by myself (Gill Fitzpatrick). It provoked much discussion and questions from the audience who were all at different levels in their bookkeeping career. It seemed to be well received ?

Our next meeting is on Monday 11th February 2013 and I've put in a request to HMRC to see if I can get one of their people can come along to speak about RTI. if not then I will be getting a local accountant to come along and speak on the same subject. Hopefully the booking will be up on the wensite very soon and it would be fantastic to see a few more of our local members

Thank you Gill - it was a very interesting meeting. We enjoyed hearing of other peoples experiences of various software and have since had a look at a couple of packages that were mentioned and I may well begin using one or two of them alongside my old favourite QuickBooks.

It was also great to all discuss our fears and confidences (or lack of them) and hope we helped to build the confidence of some of the less experienced members in the room - great meeting - hope I can do as well in my first meeting at Telford in the New Year.

There is someone from HRMC attending the Derby meeting on January 24th (in Mickleover) to talk about RTI, but it's at 6.30 as that's the latest they could do. So, if anyone's interested and can't make the Cannock meeting or if you have no luck in getting someone from HMRC to attend, Derby's always an option.
