Hello,

Are any of the talks ever geared towards students/new members to the profession?

Hello to you,

No - not a stupid question  - but  patience is a  virtue my dear Laughing

i think you will find that,  so far,  the lectures  have been as useful to old timers ( like myself ) and new-comers alike !

Certainly, there will always be much to learn from the lecture -  and - from the other members attending the meeting, who range from complete  beginners to well established performers.

The questions come thick and fast, and range from basic to quite complex , but usually there is somebody who has an answer and certainly a viewpoint.

The last lecture was certainly 'basic learning ' dealing with a Petty Cash Book - and the second half of the talk would have appealed to those who like a challenge.

So come along and see for yourself - a welcome waits -

Regards
   Kiss

Hi,

Not stupid at all, possibly people have been busy with other things.
Yes students can benefit. I am a student, very slow at it as well.
You meet nice people who are practicing bookkeepers plus sometimes other students and hear about their experiences.
There is networking opportunity that might be helpful both while you are student and when you want to work as bookkeeper.
Or you might even be able to help current practicing bookkeeper with jobs you hear about and they can do, while as student you cannot yet enter. It's really exchanging views and helping each other when possible.

Come to a couple of meetings and see if you like it.

Best Wishes

Shahram

Hi Dinah and Shahram,

Thanks for your replies.  Sorry if I seemed impatient but people usually respond to each other quite promptly on here so I did wonder, lol :-D

It seems from what you both say there's something for everyone of all levels - not to mention the opportunity to meet and chat with others.  I'll definitely come along, if not to this one then another/others in the near future.

Hope to see you sometime. :)

Hello Everybody,

just signed up this evening for next week's lecture - which is going to be wicked !

Be there if you can -  it's a great opportunity to network - catch up with fellow book-keepers - and learn something as well.

See you next Wednesday - I promise to bring biscuits Tongue Out

Cheers,

Hi Everyone,

Hope you have enjoyed Yesterday meeting at least as much a I did.
We had important communication from the Chief Executive Garry Carter, Very informative...It is good to know The institute involvement in Setting  and European Bookkeepers Board.

Thanks Flora for your lecture and Thanks to Liz for chairing the meeting.

Turn out was pretty significant ,I presume due to  the importance of topic. Hope to meet and network with new faces in very neear future.

Hello to all those who turned out in good numbers, for Flora's excellent talk last night on Self Assessment - wasn't it packed with Information and something for everyone ?

Well done Flora Laughing  !   Now do download the Handout from the link as soon as it is available -  it is a fantastic reference document.

If you think you could cover a subject at one of the meetings - do let us know - don't be scared , you are amongst friends and an appreciative audience,  who will be delighted to hear what you have to say.

See you next month - I am going to bring badges - so you will know who is sitting next to you - and can say hello - OK ?

Cheers,
   Kiss
Dinah

Hello Everybody

I have just booked my ticket for next weeks London Regional Meeting,  starting at 7 30 pm ,  when Liz is giving a really useful  talk on preparing everything for the year end for the Accoutants.

This is something for everybody - even if you have just started - knowing what to prepare is  a real help.  Liz is very experienced and knowledgeable,  and will be able to answer all your questions .

So will you be there ?  I am bringing the biscuits and also labels  (like mine) with just your  first name, so you can really get to know your fellow book- keepers and have a good gossip.  ( if you have some, bring your cards so you can exchange ).

Work often comes from meeting people -  getting to know them - among your peers there may be valuable contacts - and you may have a new client you cannot help - but they may be able to.
See you Wednesday

Just booked my ticket for Wednesday.  Haven't been able to make the last few meetings due to pregnancy sickness and have missed out on some interesting topics.  Looking forward to catching up with everyone especially as this will be my last meeting until after baby is born!!

See you all Wednesday.

Am I the only one confused or . . . . . ?

This thread about last month's meeting (27th June) has been hijacked somewhere along the way and is now about

THIS MONTH'S MEETING AT 19:30 ON WEDNESDAY 25TH JULY.

(Just so that no one is misled about when it is!  This thread doesn't seem to give the actual date.)

Cheers everyone
