Next London Meeting

Hi All

Do we want to go for the next London meeting at the end of April??

What format would you like???

I am thinking along the lines of a round table meeting if we have no more than 20 people.

I think we could start with 15 mins for a meet and greet.

Go for 30 Mins sat round the table discussing issues raised at the meeting i.e. issues people want to dicuss anything from technical queries to marketing and gain experience.

Tea and coffee for 15 Mins

Another chat round the table for 30 mins or so

The 30mins for networking and relationship development.

As ever your thoughts.

Best Regards
Stuart

Sounds good to me.

One issue I would like to discuss is client risk assesments, I understand they will eventually be filed online and I'm still waiting for my practise manual and hope there will be more info in there.

I am relatively new to bookkeeping but risk assesments I have been completing for the last 20+ years as an engineer but I am not entirely clear on how the forms supplied by the ICB should be completed - granted they are in a different format and context to what I am used to. I think it would be subject best explored in a discussion rather than through a forum.

Hi Stuart

End of April should be OK with me, amongst the bank hols!

Your format suggestion sounds good as well.  Shouldn't be too formal.

I think marketing will be a popular topic - how to approach accountants, how to network, online social networking etc.   Also, general bookkeeping experiences, practice advice, ICB developments/constructive improvements (if any!). In addition to the other comments.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi

Would be really interested to attend one of the meetings but is it for student?  As a student wouldn't it be odd to be among all the intelligent people.  in fact who can attend the meetings?

Hi Faks

I would say if you are a student and determined to become a bookkeeper then it would be foolish not to attend. The meetings are open to all members, Students, Affliates, Associates and Members - we even let Fellows in :)

Hi FAKS

As stated above Faks everyone who is a memeber of the institute no matter what grade of membership they hold may attend the meetings.

I would also welcome any prospective members to our regional meeting as it would be good for them to hear how great we all first hand.

Kind regards
Stuart

To Lady M,

I believe the link for booking the next meeting has not been uploaded onto the site yet!

Let's just hope it won't happen too late as we all need to finalise plans.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

This now opens up yet another Qualification v Experience debate. I do hope that you are not going to use this one off experience to take up midwifery as a spare time occupation.

Of course your qualifications have helped you by being able to put three 9's in the right order.

Congratulations and best wishes to all.

Wish I had a chance of going Cry

But I have one child off school for an inset day and the other has to be driven around for cello lessons after school - I'm not free to start for London until 6.30pm.

Oh well.... I'm sure there will be others

Hi Theresa

Heres a challenge for you can you find a venue in the croydon area with good public transport access and we could look at doing the next meeting in that area.

e-mail me stuart.wildman@wellersaccountants.co.uk

I am a new student member of about a month.  I am hoping once I finished all the qualigications that I can start my own business after being in a rat race of a footsie 100 company for the last 23 years.  Looking forward to meeting everyone.  I will probably be the quiet person in the corner Smile

Hi All

The dress code is informal.

As for pens and paper I am afraid you will have to bring your own this time. I did not think of providing pens and paper so have not tapped up work or the ICB for supplies Laughing.

Kind regards
Stuart
