I was wondering where things are at with level 4?

I seem to remember hearing that a text book would be out shortly. Is there a date for when the exam is going to be rolled out yet?

I'm feeling very impatient!!

Level 4 or Level IV - is that like a black belt in bookkkeeping :)

But yes it seems strange that the exam is available but no means of getting there by way of text books or courses offered. I've just got to Level 2 and my path is planned to Level 3 - is there a secret path to Level 4?

Hi Ruth

I was speaking to Ami the other day and she said the text books had been approved so it should not be long now.

Kind Regards

Hi Everyone,

I have got few question regarding Level 4, Management Accounting.

Do students get the study material straight from ICB or there is another study provider suppplying it?

How much do the study material cost, is there any tutorial scheme etc...
How much cost the all package?

I recently contacted ICB regarding Level 4 - I would only need a revision course and may consider purchasing a text book to achieve this as a self study.  However the exam itself does not appear to be available yet.

Ami @ ICB said:

There are four textbooks for the Level IV.  The first two are Management Accounts and Drafting Financial Statements.  They will use the UK GAAP accounting standards and are currently being printed.  We hope they will be available from the middle of March.

The books are intended to be made available in time for the upcoming seminars which have yet to be announced but will start in March.

The other two books for the Level IV are the tax elements; Personal Tax and Business Tax and these will be available in August.  These two tax books are aligned with the QCF and are being released in August for the tax year 10/11. We will not be printing any for the previous tax year 09/10 as we will be examining in 10/11.

Regarding the qualification tests- there will be just three tests (with the two tax modules being combined into one.)   These tests are set to be available from June.   At the moment we understand that these tests will be completed at home under timed conditions.  Members will receive a certificate after passing each module and then it is proposed that members will be awarded the Advanced Practitioner certificate upon completion of all three modules.

Please be aware that these details may be subject to change.  If anybody would like to be put on a waiting list for information please click here to send us an email.

Yes that's great, thanks Ami. It's particulrly useful to know that the exams will be using UK GAAP rather than IFRS.

Sorry if this comes through twice...PC problems....

I've got the books and they look very good.

So the next question is, do we know when the exams will be avaialble yet?

Thanks

Will there be any exemptions available to parts of level 4?  I am a fully qualified CIMA management accountant (with my membership frozen currently), so have covered the management accounting in great detail within that and previous roles.

If not, I guess that bit will be quite easy for me (I hope).

And sorry to go off on a slight tangent, but I have been wondering if it would be of any benefit for me to pay the annual fee to CIMA to get my letters back to help in attracting clients - does anybody have any opinions on that?  Or is it just enough to use it in my "background" blurb for potential clients??

Thanks

Sandra
