Greetings fellow bookkeepers,

Hi, I am MICB PM.Dip and currently studying Level 4 Self Assessment Tax, which is hopefully going to be added later this year.

I am looking for some software recommendations, having used Sage50 mainly in the past.  I intend to offer bookkeeping & payroll services to sole traders initially . What are your recommendations regarding software.

Any advice is gratefully accepted.

Many thanks

Keith

 Hi Keith,

My personal favourite is Xero; for me, I just seem to know exactly what it's doing in the background. It offers me everything I need for my sole-trader clients' bookkeeping needs. The downside is it's becoming sooo expensive so I can't really sell it to my new clients. I have managed to get them onto Mettle and onto FreeAgent, for free. The customer support is excellent so, so far, so good. I only run simple payrioll on QuickBooks for a client. I'm not a big fan of QuickBooks but the payroll offering is straightforward, but of course you may need advanced payroll?

Hope that helps a little,

Vanessa :-)

 Hi Vanesa,

Thank you for your reply. Do you use Xero for both your own accounting and your clients?
