Has anyone had a successful remark of a paper?

Hi all,

Quick question - I feel like I'm going round in circles!

Has anyone ever been successful in asking for a paper to be remarked?

I only ask because I sat the level 4 SA paper and got a result of 84% :(

I took on board all the pointers on the result page and resat the paper yesterday taking care with the sections I'd "failed on" previously.

I've just received my result for the resit and have only manged 75% this time - so I feel like I'm going backwards not forwards :(

As I am only 1 point short on the paper I wondered if it was worth spending the £25 fee to see if theres another mark that will take me over the line :)

I'd appreciate any thoughts and advice.

Thanks,

Vicky

Hi Vicky

How frustrating. I passed my actual SAT exam but was told that I had failed the 2 mocks that I took in the lead-in to it (some months ago now).

I could not understand where I thought the mistakes had been made and so I queried a few things with my training provider. After a few conversations between them, the ICB and me, it was agreed that some of the questions had been marked incorrectly (both mocks should probably have been passes). Whilst this was admitted, and they have now changed the format that one topic is now tested in (for clarity), my record has still not been updated as I was told it would be. Nevermind.

Anyway, based on my experience, I would definitely recommend asking for further explanation of the areas that were flagged up to you, as it could be the difference betweeen a fail and a pass! Whether you should have to pay for the privelege is highly debatable, in my opinion, but I know that is ICB's general policy.

Good luck...

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for the response, much appreciated :)

It never occured to me to query the result until I got the mark from the resit.  There are a few things on the resit that I'm sure I got right but the exam report is telling me that I've dropped marks on the section; I think at 75% I'm too far away to ask for a remark on that paper but am considering it on the other paper with the 84% result.

You are welcome Vicky

Yes, for a result that is on the borderline, I would definitely ask them to check it. Especially if you can not understand what you got wrong. The mocks do, at least, give you pointers on the sections of concern but even these can be pretty vague...

Best regards

Steve

Hi Vicky,

I too have just taken the ICB SA exam and only just passed it after 2 successful mocks, but I am not happy with some of the feedback on the report, it indicates that I have got simple questions wrong that I had triple checked. I have asked for a remark to put my mind a rest.

Regards

Joanne
