Self Assessment Tax Exam

After six month of stressful studying I passed the SAT exam today with 97%.

I found the course really confusing and difficult and wanted to give up on many occasions.

To anyone out there studying and struggling don't give up....I am proof that you can get there in the end.

Hi,

I did it all manually. I didn't think of using software and think I learnt more by working through everything manually.

Are you using a training provider? I did and spent a lot of time highlighting relevant parts of the training manual. Despite using a training provider I also found I needed to do a lot of my own research.

Good luck, there's a lot to learn and I didn't think I'd ever get through it all.

I am with provider and yes thought manual as do learn nore and they usually provide software if needed. Definitely a lot to take in and yes im there with my highlighting pen. Doesnt feel like it going in but when you start doing the practical questions i learn more that way

Good morning Geek84

Sorry to hear about the mock exam. Don't give up though. Go over the areas where you got the questions wrong, figure out where you went wrong and keep re-doing the questions or similar questions until you get it right. Just hang in tight. You'll get there in the end. Have faith!

I've just started studing the SAT course (2 years after getting the taxtbook, eek!), and only just now purhcased the 2017-18 mock paper so that I can have questions to practice on.

Hi Geek84,

I frequently felt frustrated and low in confidence when doing the SAT course. I spent ages working through the course prior to taking the mock, so when I got to the mocks I finally felt I was starting to get more of a grip of the subject.

Are you using a training advisor for the course? If you are then it’s worth doing their mocks. I have in the past done the same mock more than once just for practice. The ICB have two mocks for the SAT exam, but I would suggest going back over the areas where you lost marks and making sure you feel more confident and that you have a better understanding before taking the second mock.

As my tutor said to me, there is no rush to take the exam.

The whole course felt like a long road to me but I got there in the end, so hang in there
