I used to use a payroll software to send CIS certificates directly to subcontractors with password protection just like payslips, but have now moved on to using QBO. It doesn't (yet) have the facility to send them directly from the software. Anyone know a good way of doing this that doesn't cost much? I don't want to pay a disproportionate amount for less than 10 emails a month. I tried emailing them as protected Excel sheets, but not all the subbies have Excel so apparently couldn't open them. Any suggestions?

Are you able to convert them to PDF files and password protect them before emailing?

Alternatively, there is other software for CIS that can email them out.  they also have integration with QBO for posting the information.

Have you tried using Moneysoft payroll manager.

It is very easy to use and the prices are relatively cheap.

Hi

I agree that the Moneysoft Payroll Manager is great and easy to use.

From Quickbooks Online on the Taxes tab, then CIS you can get to the return and it suggests Export as PDF.

It's not pretty but it is a certificate ?

Do you get this option?

I was actually using Moneysoft previously. It's a great payroll software and had the ability to send CIS certificates with password protection. Basically everything I want! We recently changed our accounts software ready for MTD to Quickbooks and as it can do payroll and CIS was hoping to not have to also pay out for payroll software to keep costs down. It's a small business and overheads need to be kept as low as possible. Problem is, although it produces (fairy rubbish) CIS certificates it doesn't have the facility to send them directly with password protection. You can only do this with employee payslips. Seems like an omission on their part and hopefully they'll add it in.
