Thinking of joining ICB with work experience and a university degree

I'm working as a bookkeeper but my workplace has relocated its bookkeeping division abroad which has led myself to becoming reductant in the next few months. I'm thinking of setting up my own bookkeeping/accounting practice

I have nearly 3 years of experience in producing statutory accountant from the bookkeeping stage to producing the final accounts, calculating corporation tax, payroll, VAT and self-assessment returns. I've also got a university BA Hons degree in Business and Accounting (gained in 2013).

Would I be able to become a member of ICB without taking exams? Also would I have to be a member for a set time period before gaining a practice licence?

Thanks for any help

It's probably best to give ICB a call. You can be excempt via qualification or if an auditor or similar can verify your work/ abilities I think.

I'm a CIMA qualified accountant and I didn't get excemptions from any exams so I'm whizzing through them at the moment. Quite enjoying it actually but I've always been a bit of a geek :-)

Principles of accounts are universal so what you learn would be applicable in Germany. However several of the exams must be taken in a Pearson Vue Centre. Whilst these are located all over the world, you need to check whether Pearson Deutschland provide the service.
