Hi everyone, just seeing if anyone else is booked to attend the West Yorkshire branch meeting this Thursday? The key topic is AML which should be very interesting and informative... I haven't attended one covering AML before so it will be good to make sure I am doing everything correctly.

Hi Jennifer

I`ve booked onto it. Hopefully this time the venue won`t be changed while I`m on my way to it!

Unfortunately I am full of cold so I am going to sit away from everyone (if possible) to try stop my germs from spreading!

Hello! Sorry I couldn't make the meeting last night - how was the new venue? Was a date agreed for the next meeting? If so I'll pop it in my diary now, to make sure I can come!

Hi Everyone

I attended the West Yorkshire Branch meeting last night, and I would just like to say thank you again to Stuart Morris for giving an excellent talk om AML, it was very informative and most enjoyable and I certainly learned a lot.  I am looking forward to the next meeting.

Regards

Chris Green

Hi everyone, it was nice to see so many faces at the meeting (and I apologise if I have passed my cold onto anyone!!). I concur with Chris Green and agree that the AML session was very interesting and informative. However, I was left a bit perplexed after the meeting after being informed that we should be submitting a SAR every time a VAT return is late. So, I decided to contact Ray Cross (ICB compliance director) on Friday for further clarification. I have just received a phone call from Stuart Morris to say that they have done a lot of investigation work over the weekend and have found out that the late submission of VAT returns is actually a civil offense, NOT a criminal offence therefore a SAR is not required. Just thought I would share this information so that SARs are not being submitted unnecessarily.
