Dear All

It’s that time again – don’t the months fly by.  Our Berkshire Branch meeting will be next Tuesday at the Berkshire College of Agriculture in Burchetts Green near Maidenhead.  (We meet in the big house that is right in front of you when you come up the drive).

This month we have input from Mike Foster who is well known to most of us.  Mike used to run his own very successful bookkeeping practice in Oxford, which he subsequently franchised out and eventually sold.  He has been successful in a number of other business ventures, was the founder and leading light in the Oxford ICB branch for a number of years, and is also our Regional Chairman.

All this to say that he has a wealth of experience to draw on when addressing us on the subject of: Creating a strong foundation for your business. Which is our topic for this month’s meeting.  If you are already in practice, then don’t write this off – take the opportunity to review where you are now following your initial months or years, so that you are ready for the next stage for your business – and come prepared to share things that have worked for you.

Start: 6:30PM Finish: 8:30PM

Phone 0845 060 2345, or log in to the ICB to book  Cost is £5.

WHILE YOU ARE THERE DON’T FORGET TO BOOK FOR THE SUMMIT ON 13TH OCTOBER.

Future meetings

So you can fix your diaries for a few months going forward, the next few meetings will be as follows:

Tuesday July 15th             NIFTY BITS OF SOFTWARE…

Is there a better way to capture all those receipts that your clients leave in the van or chuck out when they get them?  Receipt Bank is an ICB accredited software provider that claims to have nailed this one.  A clever App that links to your online software – Sage, Xero, Quickbooks – has to be worth checking out at least – we will have a demo from one of their sales guys. If you have another nifty bit of software that you use and that might help your fellow ICBers, let me know - this is the meeting to bring it up.  If you think someone else could present it better than you then get in touch with me and we will try to organise it.

August – No meeting in the summer holidays.

Tuesday September  16th             HIS MASTER’S VOICE

Garry Carter – CEO of ICB will be joining us.  Garry is keen to meet members on a Regional level – watch this space for more details.

MONDAY  13TH OCTOBER – BOOKKEEPERS SUMMIT – DON’T FORGET TO BOOK FOR THIS

Tuesday 21st October     GET ON THE AUTOENROLLMENT BAND WAGON

Auto enrolment is already with us.  In the next 2 years over 500,000 businesses, however small, will have to autoenroll their staff.  I mistakenly assumed this was the realm of IFAs and Pension Providers, but recent experience with a client has shown that there is a PAYROLL minefield out there.  As bookkeepers and payroll providers, there is a huge opportunity for us to capture the business that is (or soon will be) out there.  I am working on getting some good speakers to help us think through how we can capture that business and benefit from this legislation.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it on Tuesday.

What a great meeting on Tuesday.

Mike Foster gave a really insightful and practical tips to starting up your business.

Some really good pointers for evaluating and growing your business too.

If you weren't able to join us, then do try to find an opportunity to hear Mike speak elsewhere on the ICB circuit.

All in all an excellent evening.

Thank you Sylvia, most kind of you.

As always an enjoyable visit to the Berkshire meeting.

I do hope that each person attending took something away to work on back in their business.

If a member missed this presentation, then I am presenting the same content to the Surrey Branch meeting in Guildford on 16th July.
