Hi Everyone
On Thursday 19th September the 'New' Cornwall Branch had its first meeting - bit sparse on attendees but out of little acorns......
Topics discussed revolved around how to find clients, how much to charge for specific tasks, whether to go for hourly rates or fixed rates, negative attitudes of accountants to bookkeepers, training providers, promoting one's business/advertising/social media.
In order to encourage more to attend would holding future meetings during the day, say lunchtime 12 noon to 2pm be preferable? Especially as winter draws in and it gets darker earlier.
The venue this time was Stuart House in the centre of Liskeard. With the meeting taking place in the cafe area - plenty of seating and tables and access to refreshments. The room was very quiet with no background noise or hubbub of other people talking so easy to hear what was being discussed.
Is Liskeard a good location? Based on number of ICB Members Liskeard has by far the most of any Cornish town/city - eg more than Truro, Camborne, Newquay, St Austell. But would say a venue at Roche be a more central venue?
Look forward to Members views and a BIG thankyou to those who came along and supported the first meeting. Hope to see more next time - which will be around the first week of November. Anybody got any prefered days/dates?
Cheers Povl
