I was wondering what you do when an employee/director has purchased something on behalf of a business and then claims the amount back....can the business reclaim the VAT, even if the invoice was made out to the individual?
My understading is that common practise is that this VAT is reclaimed(and this was mentioned on a recent post here, too) but I have seen it debated elsewhere and the consensus was that it is not reclaimable. I've been checking the 'rules' and they do say that VAT is not reclaimable where a third party has paid.
So...when a VAT invoice is made out to an employee/director of the company, can the company reclaim the VAT?
